KNOPPIX is a full installation of LINUX on a bootable CD. You can try out LINUX without installing anything on your computer's hard drive. There is no risk. If you don't like LINUX you can go back to your current set up since no changes were made. If you do like LINUX and want to continue using it, you can still run it from the CD or install it on your hard drive -- but you do this after thoroughly trying KNOPPIX first!

The KNOPPIX CD can also be used to run LINUX on most laptop computers without installing -- just boot from the CD!

You can use the CD to show LINUX to your friends. It's portable, of course, and will work on almost any PC.

KNOPPIX is free. You can download a CD image file from the KNOPPIX Home Site, however this may take as much as four hours even on a fast DSL connection (it's a big file!) and you will have to burn your own CD.
